WHO AM I?

Every year, we make new resolutions, we set goals but we forget to as ourselves a very important question that is paramount to the actualization of these goals. Who am I? It’s a simple enough question and we may be tempted to reply with just our names. After all that should be enough but it’s much deeper than that. Our identity goes beyond our names to our core values. Our values determine who we are. They determine whether we lie when faced with the consequences of our actions, whether we are willing to have sex for money when we are broke, whether we value time enough always strive to be on time. No matter how many times we set goals as long as our values do not make room for these goals to be achieved we can not achieve them.

Why is it important we know ourselves? Knowing your values and invariably who you are, tells you what you are capable of achieving which in turn informs you of the core values you need to adopt or change to become who you want to be. For instance, if your goal is to run every morning before work, you have to make time for it. If you don’t value rising early, you may never meet your goal because there just wouldn’t be time for it. So you would need to adjust your values from being someone that wakes up late to being an early riser.images

Who are you? Identify your core values. Are you a go-getter or would you rather let things happen? Are you early riser or would you rather sleep in? Are you an honest person or would you lie at any chance you get? Are you committed to spending or would you rather invest the money? Remember to be very honest with yourself as you identify your core values. Don’t sugarcoat nor shut out the truth.

Dear Young Person, know your values and identify the values you need to achieve your goals so that you can become the person you want to be. Who are you?
