Who is eligible for Chevening Scholarship?

I’ve gotten quite a number of questions about the Chevening Scholarship. I would like to answer some of these questions.

How many years work experience is needed?

To be eligible, you must have two years of work experience. This could be part-time work, volunteer work or even internships. In total, you have to have 2800 hours of work experience. This experience could have been gotten before, during or after your undergraduate programme.

How many schools do I have to apply to?

You need to have applied to three eligible universities. You can search for eligible universities and programmes on the Chevening website. You don’t necessarily need to have gotten an offer of admission from the university by the time you submit your application but you need to have gotten an UNCONDITIONAL offer by July of next year. So be sure that you can get an unconditional offer from the universities you choose.

What grade of degree do I need to have?

Your undergraduate degree should be able to get you into your university of choice. When applying to the UK universities of your choice, always find out what the academic requirements are and if your undergraduate degree qualifies. There is an eligibility pre-screen that applicants must fill before they can access the application form. Ensure that you have read through the eligibility criteria on https://www.chevening.org/scholarships/who-can-apply/ before starting your application.

I am considering carrying out a live session on Facebook or on YouTube to answer most of the common questions I have gotten, let me know what you think in the comment section. You can bring your questions for the live session 😊.

Chevening is about much more than just education. It is a platform for growth, impact and national development. It’s a community that will support and encourage your dreams.

Do have a beautiful month ahead.

Cheers

The Rebuild Network- Changing Bayelsa one person at a time

Meet Anne Agedah, a graduate of Geophysics from Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA in Bayelsa State.

WhatsApp Image 2019-05-24 at 13.42.54She is an interior decorator and currently work in the Oil and Gas sector. She grew up in Port Harcourt until 2013 when her family moved to their home state. Arriving Bayelsa, Anne found herself unable to connect with other young Bayelsans beacause majority of them had no drive and seem to believe that the government and their family owed them money and constant support. This mentality was greatly exploited and promoted by politicians who used money as incentive to the youths to carry out their will.

In 2018, during Anne’s Youth Service in Abia State, she met a phenomenal woman, Bestie Tamara Atti, who like her had found herself in a place with entitled people who seemed not to care about the state of their environment. Rather than let this deter her, Bestie had gone on to impact many people within the state. She chose to radiate excellence rather than mediocrity and to drag as many people as person into the light. She founded Bestie Network Africa, a women support and empowerment community that provide women with resources and support to live their very best lives.

Her life inspired and motivated Anne and prompted Anne to start The Rebuild Network with the aim of changing the state of things in her state by changing one Baylsan at a time. She envisions that the network would raise a generation of young people who recognize that they have the power to make their lives different and who take charge of their lives and become independent and useful to their society.

She officially kick started the network on 16th of May, 2019 and she has a team of seven people working with her. WhatsApp Image 2019-05-24 at 13.41.28They include:

Queen Bestman ( We had featured her on the blog earlier )

Winifred John

Precious Gilbert

Smith Livinus-Agala

Celestine Okoduwa

Boloupremo Samuel

Nwankwo Osinachi

Anne Agedah believes that God has laid The Rebuild Network as a burden in her heart as the solution to Bayelsa’s problems. And when asked about the opposition she is bound to face, she says

“I thank God I am not on my own… I am expecting a lot of opposition but that will not stop me by God’s grace”

Anne Agedah has started a movement that will inspire a whole generation. We look forward to following her story.
